Developing strategies to alleviate the most prevalent problems afflicting the musculoskeletal system

The Cellular Engineering Laboratory (CEL) was established in 1998 under the directorship of Clark T. Hung. Our laboratory is focused on understanding physical (e.g. cell deformation, fluid flow effects, hydrostatic pressure) and chemical (e.g. growth factors, cytokines, steroids) influences on cells and tissues in order to incorporate these forces in strategies for developing functional tissue substitutes of clinical relevance.
